On 6.2 machines with limited memory the mdRegister system call fails sometimes and Mi_D reports "Error: mdRegister(3dm) failed". The problem appears to be connected with the system swap mechanism. Although no solution exists at this point, I've observed that one or more of the following actions may remedy the situation:
- Try again
- (Re-)Start MIDI with
```
%  /etc/init.d/midi stop
%  /etc/init.d/midi start
```
- If you are using midisynth(1), start it manually by starting synthpanel(1) before opening MIDI in Mi_D

MacOS

Writing several sysex messages in a loop seems to sometimes hang the machine.
